Trio of Mountain Lions to Run 10K Late Tonight at Mt. SAC
WALNUT, Calif. - Alyssa Andrews, Angie Martell and Madison Neher will be competing against some of the top runners in the world tonight when they compete for the University of Colorado Colorado Springs in the 55th Mt. SAC Relays. The three will each run in the 10,000-meter run at 10:30 p.m. MDT.
The heat will be the fourth and final 10,000-meter run of the night for the 94 women who entered the event tonight. It will be the first 10,000-meter run during the outdoor season for each of the Mountain Lions in their collegiate careers, and the first for a UCCS runner since Kaitlin Frier ran in 2011.
Andrews ran 17:34.10 in the 5,000-meter run on the West Coast earlier this season and has the third-fastest time for the RMAC this season. It's the third-fastest time in UCCS history for the sophomore, and the fastest since Shannon Payne set the record in 2006.
Neher ran 18:44.64 in the 5,000-meter at the Washington University Invitational in St. Louis during spring break in her only competition of the outdoor season. Martell turned in 18:40.46 at altitude in the 5,000-meter run and has the fifth-fastest time in the RMAC when adjusted down to 18:30.69 from Colorado Mines.
Flotrack will provide live video coverage of tonight's races with a paid subscription.
