By Jared Verner published April 17, 2013

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - University of Colorado Colorado Springs record holder Megan Burrell was named the RMAC Female Track Athlete of the Week this morning by the conference. She earned the award after she set the program record in the 1,500-meter run at the Colorado Invitational last Saturday.

Burrell ran an unadjusted time of 4 minutes, 39.79 seconds and finished fifth in the event. When adjusted to sea level, the time of 4:33.12 puts her into No. 13 in the Division II performance lists. She beat the record of 4:42.55 set by Ashley Birger in 2006.

Burrell is also ranked sixth in the RMAC for the 5,000-meter run with an adjusted time of 18:21.27. She will compete in the event late Friday night at the 55th Mt. SAC Relays in Walnut, Calif.

The Mountain Lions will send student-athletes to four different meets this weekend: Mt. SAC Relays, Beach Invitational, Bryan Clay Invitational and the Western State Invitational.
