Neher, Andrews Compete in 5Ks at WashU, San Francisco
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - The University of Colorado Colorado Springs women's outdoor track and field team will enter runners into distance events for the first time in the early season the Mountain Lions compete at the Washington University Invitational in St. Louis and the San Francisco State Distance Carnival today and tonight.
Alyssa Andrews will compete in the 5,000-meter run in San Francisco at 3:43 p.m. MDT. She will be running along with 10 Division I runners in her heat and against Division II runners from strong cross country programs like Alaska Anchorage and Chico State. Andrews ran the indoor 5,000-meter run earlier this year and scored for the Mountain Lions at the conference championships and ran the 6,000-meter runs for the conference and regional cross country championships.
Madison Neher will also run the 5,000-meter run tonight at Washington University. She will be one of the 35 runners in the second heat, and one of 14 runners from teams throughout the Midwest. Neher is the only runner from a team at altitude and will be running a 5k on the track at sea level for the first time in nearly a year. She ran her personal best of 19:07.21 at sea level in the Bryan Clay Invitational last April.
