COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - A small contingent of student-athletes will represent the University of Colorado Colorado Springs women's track and field team in the outdoor-opener of the 2013 season at the University of Colorado Boulder Jerry Quiller Classic on Saturday. The first event to feature the Mountain Lions will begin at 11 a.m. at Potts Field.

Indoor provisional qualifier and RMAC champion Alex Colvin will be among the first events in the entire meet to begin competition when she starts the pole vault at 11 a.m. She has the second-best mark in program history at 12 feet, 2 inches, and was the runner-up at the 2012 conference outdoor championships.

Michaela Mansfield and Briana Alley will both compete in the 400-meter and 200-meter dashes for the Mountain Lions. The 400 dashes will begin at 12:30 p.m., before the 200 dashes at 2:10 p.m. Mansfield, a soccer student-athlete last fall, will make her outdoor debut, and Alley will return to the track where she ran her season-best in the 400 last season.

The Mountain Lions are scheduled to compete against Front Range competition from UC-Boulder, Colorado Mines, Colorado State, Air Force, Metro State and Northern Colorado, along with South Dakota Mines. Updates will be posted on the Mountain Lions twitter account, @GoMountainLions, as they become available.
