UCCS 10th in Final Regional Index

NEW ORLEANS - The University of Colorado Colorado Springs women's indoor track and field team will finish the regular season in No. 10 in the final U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association South Central Regional Team Index released this morning. The Mountain Lions earned five USTFCCCA All-Region awards yesterday from the coaches association.

Alexa Urban, Melanie Diep, Jessica Todd, Megan Burrell and Alex Colvin each earned all-region honors for having performances rank in the top five for individual events and in the top three for relay events. Diep and Burrell also have the eighth-fastest times in the region for the 800-meter run and mile run, respectively, and Angie Martell has the eighth-fastest time in the 5,000-meter run in the region.

The Mountain Lions finished seventh at the RMAC Championships last Saturday with the fourth-highest point total in program history. Colvin repeated as the conference indoor pole vault champion and led three all-conference performers in Martell and Urban.

UCCS will continue the indoor season at the national championships March 8-9 in Birmingham, Ala. Diep, Todd, Burrell and Urban will compete in the distance medley relay and Burrell will also compete in the mile run.
