Five Mountain Lions Earn All-Region Honors
NEW ORLEANS - Five Mountain Lions posted marks this season that rank among the best in the South Central Region to earn U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association All-Region honors this afternoon.
Alex Colvin, Alexa Urban, Megan Burrell, Melanie Diep and Jessica Todd were named to the all-region team, which includes student-athletes from the RMAC, Lone Star Conference and Heartland Conference. The top five in individual events and each member of a relay ranked in the region's top three earned the regional honor.
Colvin won her second conference championship in the pole vault last Saturday and has a season-best mark of 11 feet and 11 ¾ inches. She ranks No. 35 in the national performance lists.
Burrell, Diep, Todd and Urban have the 11th-fastest time in the nation this season in the distance medley relay with an adjusted time of 11 minutes and 51.10 seconds. Urban also earned all-region honors in the 800-meter run, where she ranks No. 34 in the national lists. She was an all-conference student-athlete in the 800-meter run last Saturday at Black Hills State.
The final USTFCCCA South Central Region team index will be released early Tuesday morning. Declarations for the 2013 NCAA Division II Indoor Track and Field Championships concluded today, and the field is scheduled to be announced later this week by the national committee.
