COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - The University of Colorado Colorado Springs women's cross country team will have seven runners in action tonight between the 5,000-meter run and distance medley relay as the Mountain Lions open the Colorado Mines Twilight Collegiate Open at Steinhauer Fieldhouse. The first events for UCCS begin at 6:30 p.m.

UCCS will field a distance medley relay team for the first time this season with Melanie Diep, Jessica Todd, Alexa Urban and Megan Burrell. The Mountain Lions will be one of four teams in the relay, along with RMAC teams Metro State and Western State, when the gun goes off for the event at 6:30 p.m. Urban was on the team that ran the fastest time of the season last year in 12:51.22 at the RMAC Championships.

Angie Martell, Sam Bauer and Alyssa Andrews will each compete in the 5,000-meter run for the first time this season at 6:55 p.m. tonight. Martell and Andrews are competing for the first time during the indoor season, while Bauer's only performance this season came in the mile run at New Mexico.

UCCS is one of six RMAC teams scheduled to compete at the Mines Twilight meet this weekend. The Mountain Lions improved 14 spots in the latest U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association national rankings earlier this week.
