Misch Places 16th at USA Championships
ST. LOUIS, Mo. - Mark Misch, the University of Colorado Colorado Springs Head Men's Cross Country and Co-Head Men's and Women's Track and Field Coach, finished No. 16 overall and No. 13 in his age group at the 2013 USA Cross Country Championships yesterday at St. Louis' Forest Park. Misch ran the eight-kilometer course in 27 minutes and 56.6 seconds for Team Colorado.
Misch was one of 127 finishers in the master's race and one of 40 finishers in the 40-44 age group. He went through the two-kilometer mark in No. 24 before improving to No. 17 at the four-kilometer mark. He ran sub-seven splits in the first and final two kilometers, and was one of 15 runners to do so.
The USA Cross Country Championships were held in St. Louis for the second consecutive year, and the top six runners in the open and masters races earned a spot on Team USA for the World Cross Country Championships later this year in Poland. Four Olympians from 2012 and several current and former RMAC runners were involved in the races.
