BOULDER, Colo. - Alexa Urban broke her own program record in the 600-yard run with one minute, 23.49 seconds to lead the University of Colorado Colorado Springs women's indoor track and field team on the second day of the University of Colorado Boulder Potts Invitational today at Balch Fieldhouse.

Urban was also a member of the 4x400-meter relay team that won in 4:13.04, and along with Jessica Todd, put the Mountain Lions ahead early after the first two legs and two teams from Colorado Mines. Briana Kae Alley and Melanie Diep closed out the relay legs as UCCS won its heat by more than 10 seconds against Gillette College. The second UCCS 4x400-meter relay squad finished within two seconds of the Gillette team in the same heat.

Urban took more than two seconds off of her program record time in the 600-yard run set two years ago to finish second behind Colorado's Elizabeth Tremblay. Todd's time of 1:31.61 put her in third overall today and in the UCCS program records.

Veronica Sandoval led four Mountain Lions in the mile run with her third-place time of 5:24.09. She ranks eighth in the RMAC performance lists, one spot of ahead of the Mountain Lions' Diep, who finished fourth today in 5:26.94. Both Mountain Lions finished behind All-Americans, with Sandoval just more than 10 seconds off the lead on the tight undersized track.

Alyssa Wendt and Sam Bauer finished eighth and ninth, respectively, in their first competition since the national cross country championships in November.

Up Next: UCCS continues the indoor season next weekend at the New Mexico Invitational in Albuquerque, N.M. The Mountain Lions will be competing in the same facility that will host the 2013 U.S.A. Indoor Track and Field Championships later this year.
