COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - The University of Colorado Colorado Springs women's indoor track and field team will compete in track events for the first time this season when the Mountain Lions send 12 student-athletes to the University of Colorado Boulder Potts Invitational Saturday afternoon. The first set of events involving UCCS will begin at 3:25 p.m.

Three members of the UCCS cross country team from the national championships - Sam Bauer, Veronica Sandoval and Alyssa Wendt - will make up half of the Mountain Lions in the mile run. A provisional qualifying time on the track will be approximately 5:07.94, based on the NCAA altitude and track conversion calculators. It will be the first competition for the cross country runnes since they helped lead the Mountain Lions to a top-10 finish at the national championships.

Program record-holder Alexa Urban will lead four Mountain Lions in the 600-yard run at 4:45 p.m. She's an all-conference performer in the indoor season from two season ago, and ran 1:31.53 during that season to set the record.

Like the men's teams, UCCS will compete with multiple 4x400-meter relay teams at 7 p.m. tonight. Ten of the 12 Mountain Lions competing in the individual events will also compete on the relay teams.

Admission to the meet at Balch Fieldhouse is free, and seating is available on the second level. UC-Boulder suggests parking in Lot 169 north of Folsom Field.
