UCCS Men Earn USTFCCCA Scholar Team Honor, English Fifth All-Academic Award
NEW ORLEANS - The University of Colorado Colorado Springs men's track and field team, the winner of the RMAC Brechler Awards for the indoor and outdoor season, earned Scholar Team honors from the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association this morning.
Mike English also earned the All-Academic award with a national qualifying mark and a cumulative grade point average above 3.25. It's his second career All-Academic award in track and field and his fifth between track and cross country.
The Mountain Lions have earned the team award for the third consecutive year and were one of four RMAC teams to earn the award this year. UCCS also won the inaugural Brechler Awards from the conference with the highest team grade point average in the league.
English ran the anchor leg of the distance medley relay at the NCAA Division II Indoor National Track and Field Championships, where UCCS placed No. 11. He scored in the 5,000-meter run at the RMAC indoor championships. English was an RMAC All-Academic Second Team member in the indoor and outdoor seasons.
English was one of 210 Division II men to earn All-Academic status from the USTFCCCA.
