Aberle Earns All-Region Honor
NEW ORLEANS - Carson Aberle, a qualifier in the 800-meter run for this week's NCAA Division II Men's Outdoor Track & Field Championships, earned a spot on the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches All-South Central Region Team. He has the fourth-fastest time in the region.
Aberle was the RMAC champion in the event and ran his qualifying time of 1:50.88 at the conference championships. His time is two-tenths of a second off of the UCCS record set by All-American Moses Tum in 2005.
The USTFCCCA All-Region awards are presented to the top five individual athletes and to each athlete on the top three relay teams in each of the eight regions. Ryan Buchanan missed all-region honors by one spot in the 400-meter hurdles, while Kyle McCloskey ranked eighth in the region for the 800-meter run.
Aberle will compete in the preliminaries of the 800-meter run at the national championships on Friday at 5:45 p.m. Action takes place at the Neta and Eddie DeRose ThunderBowl at CSU-Pueblo.
