UCCS Wins Three Events at Mines Pre-Conference Meet
GOLDEN, Colo. - The University of Colorado Colorado Springs men's outdoor track and field won three events at the Colorado School of Mines Pre-Conference Meet earlier today at the Stermole Track and Field Complex. It's the final tune-up for the Mountain Lions before the conference championships on the same track in nine days.
Jonathan Wright won the 400-meter and 200-meter dashes, while Andre Young earned his second win of the season in the 400-meter hurdles. The Mountain Lions also earned seven additional top-five finishes.
Wright finished in a season-best time of 22.19 seconds in the 200-meter dash, and has the seventh-best time in the RMAC when altitude-adjusted to 22.26 seconds. He paced five Mountain Lions in the 400-meter dash with 48.48 seconds. Wright remains in second in the RMAC performance lists for the 400 dash with 48.47 seconds from earlier this season.
Young finished the 400 hurdles in 55.59 seconds and is third in the RMAC performance lists.
Marc Hensley ran season-best times in the 200-meter and 400-meter dashes in 22.90 and 49.57 seconds, respectively. He accounted for two of the seven top-five finishes for the Mountain Lions. David Marino also improved on his time in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with his fourth-place finish in 10:40.15.
UCCS will compete in the 2013 RMAC Outdoor Track and Field Championships May 6-7 at the Stermole Complex at Colorado Mines.
