Williams Leads Mountain Lions at Western State
GUNNISON, Colo. - Oliver Williams lowered his season best in the 800-meter run by nearly two seconds to finish second in the event and lead the University of Colorado Colorado Springs men's outdoor track and field team at the Western State Invitational this afternoon.
Williams' altitude-adjusted time of 2:00.51 improved on his performance at the Don Kirby Tailwind Invitational in New Mexico two weeks ago. He led five Mountain Lions who competed in the event and was one of the two UCCS runners to finish in the top three, along with Justin Bills' third-place finish in an adjusted 2:01.22.
Chris Ullom, Ryder Tam and Dante Mendoza finished sixth through eighth, respectively, within six-tenths of a second of each other. Ullom finished in an adjusted 2:02.71 to lead the second group of Mountain Lions.
UCCS wrap up the weekend tomorrow with the California contingent at the Beach Invitational at Long Beach State.
