Aberle Provisionally Qualifies in 800-Meter Run
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. - Carson Aberle ran the third-fastest time in University of Colorado Colorado Springs history with an altitude-adjusted time of 1:51.70 to provisionally qualify in the 800-meter run at the Don Kirby Tailwind Invitational today at the University of New Mexico. Andre Young also improved his RMAC-leading time in the 400-meter hurdles.
Aberle finished third overall and is eighth in the Division II performance lists. He lowered his personal best by a second from last weekend's Division II Front Range Invitational and improved from fifth in the UCCS records. Kyle McCloskey finished ninth overall in an adjusted time of 1:53.77 in the field of 34 finishers.
Jonathan Wright, Andre Young, Marc Hensley and Alan Ford ran 3:16.70 to win the 4x400-meter to finish the meet in the late afternoon. The Mountain Lions won by more than a second against Division I New Mexico, two teams from Western State and one team from West Texas A&M and Fort Lewis.
Young finished as the top attached collegiate finisher in the 400-meter hurdles and lowered his time to 55.04. Ryan Buchanan finished fourth today in 55.66 and is fourth in the conference performance lists.
UCCS will return to Boulder, Colo., next Saturday at Potts Field for the Colorado Invitational.
