Wright Named to RMAC All-Academic First Team
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - University of Colorado Colorado Springs junior sprinter Jon Wright earned 2013 RMAC Indoor Track and Field First Team honors this afternoon. Mike English and Alan Ford were both named to the Second Team by a vote of the Sports Information Directors at the conference schools.
Wright ran the fourth-fastest 400-meter time in the RMAC during the season with 49.51 seconds. He was a part of two winning 4x400-meter relay teams at the Mines Twilight Collegiate Open and the CU-Boulder Potts Invitational. Wright was a member of the UCCS Dean's List last semester as an engineering major with mathematics and aerospace engineering minors.
English was a member of the distance medley relay team that finished No. 11 at the national indoor championships in March. He scored for the Mountain Lions in the 5,000-meter run at the conference championships and won the event at the Mines Twilight College Open. It's his second time on the RMAC All-Academic team as a finance and management major.
Ford has the fourth-fastest 400-meter time in program history and finished one spot out of the finals at the conference championships. He won the 600-yard run at the Joe Davies Collegiate Open and was a two-time RMAC Honor Roll selection for the indoor season before this year. Ford was a member of the UCCS President's List with a 4.00 semester grade point average last fall as a game design and development major.
Student-athletes needed a 3.30 cumulative grade point average in at least two semesters of attendance at their current institution. Sports Information Directors at each RMAC school that sponsors indoor track and field selected the first and second teams.
