Mountain Lions Send Runners to Spring Break Meets Across Country
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - The University of Colorado Colorado Springs men's outdoor track and field team will send runners to a pair of meets to close out the Spring Break period. The Mountain Lions will compete at the Washington University Invitational in St. Louis tonight and the San Francisco State Distance Carnival this afternoon.
The races will mark for the first distance events of the outdoor season for the Mountain Lions. Ryder Tam will compete for the first time as an attached athlete in the 1,500-meter run in San Francisco in the fifth of six heats at noon MDT. He competed in the cross country season as an unattached runner in three meets.
Ryder will join David Marino in the 5,000-meter run tonight at 4:43 p.m. MDT. They will both run in the fifth in final heat.
Luke Dakin will run the 10,000-meter run later tonight in St. Louis at 8:10 p.m. MDT. It will be the first 10k run of his collegiate track career, but it will match the distance from the championship season for cross country in the fall. He was a member of the Mountain teams that finished fourth at the regional championships and No. 11 at the national championships.
