Mountain Lions Open Outdoor Season at Quiller Classic

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - The University of Colorado Colorado Springs will open the 2013 outdoor track and field season on Saturday in the Jerry Quiller Classic at the University of Colorado Boulder. The first events involving the Mountain Lions will begin at 12:40 p.m.

Seven Mountain Lions will open the day in the 400-meter dash, including UCCS record holder Jonathan Wright. Marc Hensley, who has the third-fastest time in program history, is also scheduled to run in the event.

Chad Liscar and Chris Myers will compete in the 100-meter dash 30 minutes later. Liscar set the record with 10.67 seconds last season and is the fastest sprinter in UCCS history by nearly three-tenths of a second. The two Mountain Lions will also run in the 200-meter dash at 2:25 p.m., in an event that Liscar has the fifth-fastest time in UCCS history.

Carson Aberle will lead a group of three Mountain Lions in the 800-meter run at 1:40 p.m., and will be the only distance runners competing for UCCS on Saturday. Aberle has the fifth-fastest indoor and outdoor time in program history. Chris Ullom will compete in the outdoor season for the first time in two years while Justin Bills will compete on the track for the first time in his collegiate career.

UCCS will compete with two 4x400-meter relay teams to close out the Quiller Classic at 3:30 p.m. Wright and Hensley were members of the defending conference championship team from the 2012 outdoor championships, and will be competing on different teams for the Mountain Lions.
