Mountain Lions No. 10 in Final Regional Index

NEW ORLEANS - The University of Colorado Colorado Springs men's indoor track and field team finished the 2012-13 regular season in No. 10 in the final U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association South Central Regional Team Index released this morning.  The Mountain Lions have three performances ranked in the top eight of the regional performance lists.

The UCCS distance medley relay team that will compete at the national championships on March 8-9 have the fourth-fastest time in the region with an adjusted 10 minutes and 17.07 seconds. Kyle McCloskey, Travis Whitman, Anthony Davis and Mike English hold the program record in the event and are ranked seventh among the teams accepted for the championships.

Whitman joined the 4x400-meter relay team of Jonathan Wright, Sam Marsh and Nathan Weeks for the seventh-fastest time in the region with 3:19.72 from the New Mexico Invitational in January. Wright also has the seventh-fastest time in the region in the 400-meter dash with 49.40 seconds.

UCCS continues the indoor season at the national championships March 8 in Birmingham, Ala. The distance medley relay team will compete on Friday night at 6:50 p.m. MST at the CrossPlex Complex.
