By Jared Verner published January 26, 2013

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. - Jonathan Wright, Travis Whitman, Sam Marsh and Nathan Weeks ran 3 minutes and 19.72 seconds in the 4x400-meter relay to lead the University of Colorado Colorado Springs performances on the second day of the New Mexico Invitational today at the Albuquerque Convention Center. The relay team's adjusted time of 3:20.16 leads the RMAC performance lists.

The Mountain Lions hold a nearly four-second advantage in the 4x400-meter relay performance lists against Chadron State, which ran 3:24.00 at a season-opening meet in December. Today's unadjusted time came within seven-tenths of a second of breaking the record set last year.

Wright also turned in the fastest time in the conference for the 400-meter run with an altitude-adjusted time of 49.51 seconds. Whitman's time of 49.56 seconds from last night's heat, which ranks second in program records, adjusted to 49.67 for the third-fastest time in the conference performance lists.

Carson Aberle led a group of four Mountain Lions to finish in the top seven of the overall results in the 800-meter run with 1:55.57. His time adjusted down to 1:54.92 for the second-fastest time in the RMAC. Kyle McCloskey (adjusted 1:55.92) and Anthony Davis (1:56.45) made it three UCCS runners in the top five of the conference performance lists at this point in the season.

Mike English finished fourth out of 21 runners in the 3,000-meter run with 8:48.49. UCCS was one of two schools with multiple runners in the top 10 of the results with Sam Feldotto's ninth-place time in 9:07.62.

Up Next: The Mountain Lions will take next weekend off before competing at the Colorado Mines Twilight Open on Feb. 8, in Golden, Colo.
