UCCS Looks for More Improvement on Day Two of N.M. Invite

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - After Travis Whitman's indoor best in the 400-meter dash and second-fastest time in program history last night, the University of Colorado Colorado Springs will look to continue the improvements today in the second day of the New Mexico Invitational at the Albuquerque Convention Center.

Chad Liscar opens the events for the Mountain Lions in the preliminaries of the 60-meter dash at 11:30 a.m. He will run in the fourth of five heats, and the top 16 runners (out of the 40 entered) will advance to the consolations and finals at 1:40 p.m. this afternoon. Liscar ran 7.28 seconds in the event last Saturday afternoon at the University of Colorado Boulder and ranks No. 17 in the RMAC performance lists after the time was altitude-adjusted to 7.30 seconds.

Alan Ford and Jonathan Wright will compete in the second day of heats in the 400-meter dash at 12:30 p.m. Wright holds the UCCS record in the event with 48.51 seconds and ran the time on the same New Mexico track two seasons ago. Alan Ford has the fifth-fastest time with 50.55 seconds, also at the same meet two years ago.

Anthony Davis, Carson Aberle, Kyle McCloskey and David Ullom will be split between the two heats of the 800-meter run at 2:10 p.m. Davis, Aberle and McCloskey will make up a heat of all Division II runners, including two runners are from schools that are in transition to Division I. Aberle and Davis both rank in the top five in the UCCS all-time performer lists from.
 
Mike English and Sam Feldotto will finish the afternoon for the Mountain Lions in the 3,000-meter run at 2:35 p.m. After the first heat ran last night, the final heat will run today with the top entered times and a large number of cross country runners from the national championships. It's the first race for both English and Feldotto since the cross country season ended, and the pair rank third and fourth, respectively, in the UCCS all-time performer lists.
