Men Pick Up USTFCCCA All-Academic Team Award
NEW ORLEANS - University of Colorado Colorado Springs men's indoor and outdoor track and field teams were one of five RMAC teams and one of 41 NCAA Division II teams to earn All-Academic honors from the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association. The Mountain Lions earned the award after a team cumulative grade point average of 3.00 or greater.
It's the second straight year and the third time overall for the UCCS men to earn the team honor from the coaches association. The Mountain Lions had the third-best grade point average among the five conference teams.
UCCS had four student-athletes named to the individual All-Academic teams released earlier. Matt Cameron, Mike English, Alan Ford and Jonathan Wright each had a cumulative grade point average of 3.25 or greater and reached a provisional or automatic qualifying mark during the track and field season.
UCCS joined Chadron State, Colorado Mines, Nebraska-Kearney and Western Colorado as RMAC teams to earn the honor. The conference ranked second among Division II conferences in total teams.
