August 6, 2012Men Pick Up USTFCCCA All-Academic Team AwardNEW ORLEANS – University of Colorado Colorado Springs men's indoor and outdoor track and field teams were one of five RMAC teams and one of 41 NCAA Division II teams to earn All-Academic honors from the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association. The Mountain Lions earned the award after a team cumulative grade point average of 3.00 or greater.
August 1, 2012Four Mountain Lion Men Earn Scholar-Athlete HonorsCOLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - UC-Colorado Springs student-athletes Matt Cameron, Mike English, Alan Ford and Jonathan Wright earned Scholar-Athlete honors from the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association late last week. The Mountain Lion quartet were among the 164 NCAA Division II student-athletes to earn the honor.
May 11, 2012Men’s 4x400 meter relay captures RMAC title to lead the way for the Mountain LionsGunnison, CO: Like a postal carrier, the track & field team competes in all kinds of weather. During their three days at the RMAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships in Gunnison, Colorado, the Mountain Lions saw rain, snow, high winds, sunny skies, freezing temperatures and lastly in the 70’s.
May 1, 2012California to Kansas...and back again.Getting things started for the mountain lions were several of the middle and long-distance squad who traveled to Lawrence, Kansas for the KU Relays. Despite swirling winds during the Thursday and Friday evening sessions of the three day meet, several of the UCCS runners recorded personal or season bests. Highlights from the meet included Alexa Urban running a season best in the 800 meters of 2:15.66 to rank her fifth in the RMAC. Ryan Derrick placed sixth among college runners in the 3000 meter steeplechase, Mike English was the seventh placing collegian in the 5000 meters with a time of 15:02.19 which is number five on the UCCS all-time performance list.
April 16, 2012Mountain Lion Tracksters Find Mid-Season FormThe UCCS trackster’s have been busy covering the miles between meets in Albuquerque, Pueblo and Boulder over the past two weeks, setting numerous school records, season, and lifetime bests in the process. 
March 29, 2012Fast Start to Outdoor Season Gets Mountain Lions Up and Running The outdoor season is up and running for the UCCS Mountain Lion Track & Field teams after the two first outdoor meets of the season. Both meets produced a number of early season bests and personal records, which bodes well for the season ahead.
March 5, 2012Three Mountain Lions Named All-Region in Track & FieldNEW ORLEANS – The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) has named All-Region honorees for indoor track & field in Division II. Among the honorees are two University of Colorado at Colorado Springs Women’s Pole Vaulters and a Men’s 800 meter runner.  Christy Carmody, Alex Colvin, and Matt Cameron were the three Mountain Lions on the list of 1,012 athletes from all over the country to receive All-Region honors. 
February 13, 2012Three Days, Four States, Two Meets, and another National QualifierMatt Cameron followed up his impressive performance in New Mexico last weekend with another national qualifying mark at the Grand Valley State Big Meet in Allendale, Michigan on Friday. Cameron, who currently sits fifth in the country in the 800 meter run, bettered the provisional standard in the mile by running 4:12.89 amongst stiff competition in Michigan. The performance moves Cameron to #2 all-time for UCCS behind only Moses Tum, a former national champion for the Mountain Lions.
February 6, 2012UCCS Tracksters on Fire at the University of New Mexico Lobo ClassicIt was a historic weekend for the UCCS Track & Field team as they continue their preparations for the RMAC Indoor Championships in three weeks time.
January 31, 2012UCCS Track and Field Teams Roll On...As the pages on the calendar turn to February, the UCCS track & field team begins to focus on the RMAC Indoor Championships at the end of the month. In the latest USTFCCCA rankings the UCCS women's team is ranked #24 in the country based on the strength of several individual performances. The men also have several individuals ranked in the top eight of their event in the RMAC. Both teams have high expectations and a number of individuals who are shooting for all-RMAC honors and possible qualification for the NCAA II Indoor Track & Field National Championships March 9th -10th in Mankato, Minnesota.
January 23, 2012Martin Hits National Qualifying Mark to Lead Mountain Lions at CU Potts InviteSeth Martin cleared 2.06 meters (6’9”) in the high jump, finishing runner-up and bettering the NCAA Provisional Standard of 2.04 meters Saturday. In just his second collegiate meet, the freshman put himself in position to qualify for the NCAA DII Indoor National Meet to be held March 9-10 in Mankato, MN.  The performance moves Martin to number two all-time on the UCCS Men’s High Jump list, behind 2009 All-American Steven Gomez. Currently sitting at 13th in the nation, Martin looks poised to improve upon his qualifying mark in the coming weeks.
