Quad meet provides final tuneup prior to conference championship
GOLDEN, Colo. - The University of Colorado at Colorado Springs track team had its final tuneup preceding the conference championship meet when the Mountain Lions competed Friday at the CSM Quad Meet at Stermole Track & Field Complex.
Despite cold and some snow flurries, the Mountain Lions had two first-place finishes and a new school record. The first-place finishes were logged by Alexa Urban in the women's 800-meter run and by the women's 4 X 400 meter relay squad consisting of Ashley Benfield, Urban, Emily Weeks and Dawn Eckert.
The school record was set by Brien Hopkins, who clocked an altitude-converted time of 15.74 seconds in the men's 110-meter hurdles.
Three Mountain Lions set new outdoor personal records in the women's high jump as Erika Cushnie, Chelsie Overocker and Ally Watson all beat their previous bests. Overocker also had a season best and outdoor PR in the women's triple jump and finished second at 11.52 meters.
