Graham, Hopkins Named First Team All-Academic
COLORADO SPRINGS-The University of Colorado at Colorado Springs' Lauren Graham and Brien Hopkins were named to the 2010-11 Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Indoor Track & Field All Academic First Team, the conference announced Tuesday.
Graham, a sophomore from Lancaster, Calif., was named RMAC Indoor Athlete of the week twice and spent time ranked No. 1 in the country, eventually earning a second place finish at nationals. She was also named to the Indoor All-RMAC First Team. Graham carries a 3.64 GPA and is majoring in Nursing.
Hopkins, a junior from Castle Rock, Colo., was also named to the Indoor All-RMAC First Team in February for his work in the Heptathalon. Hopkins placed second in the Heptathalon at the RMAC Championships. He currently carries a 3.56 GPA while majoring in Psychology.
The Mountain Lions also had a male and female athlete named to the RMAC All Academic Second Team in seniors Kaitlin Frier and Jason Shaver. A distance runner from Valley Springs, Cailf., Frier currently holds a 3.67 GPA as an English and Writing student. Shaver, a hometown kid from Colorado Springs, currently boasts a 3.79 GPA while majoring in Sports Conditioning.
UCCS also had several other Track and Field athletes named to the Honor Roll:

Michael Johnson, Junior, Littleton, Colo. 3.71 majoring in Mechanical Engineering
Luke Dakin, Sophomore, Louisville, Colo. 3.64 majoring in Business Administration
Casey Weaver, Sophomore, Carbondale, Colo. 3.74 majoring in Business & Finance
Melissa Buchanan, Sophomore, Glenwood Springs, Colo. 3.72 majoring in English
Sara Kettelkamp, Sophomore, Pueblo West, Colo. 3.36 undecided major
Alicia Del Pardo, Senior, Colo. Springs, Colo. 3.39 majoring in Business Service Management
