Overocker's Provisional Mark in Triple Jump the Highlight at Mines Meet

GOLDEN, Colo. - Chelsea Overocker earned a provisional qualifying mark for nationals in the triple jump as the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs track & field team competed at the Colorado Mines Twilight Meet Friday evening at Stienhauer Field House.

 The freshman from Thornton, Colo., jumped 11.52 meters, good for a second-place finish in what will be the Mountain Lions' final tune-up before the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Indoor Track & Field Championships on Feb. 25-26 in Kearney, Neb. Overocker now stands in the 25th position on the NCAA D-II national performance list.

UCCS also had three event winners in Golden. Dawn Eckert won the women's 400-meter dash with a time of 1 minute, 02.44 seconds. Eckert was joined in the top three of the women's 400 by two teammates, with Jessica Luna taking second  in 1:04.97 and Briana Kay Alley third at 1:05.28.

Jonathan Wright won the men's 600 meters with a time of 1:24.27. Wright currently sits in the No. 20 position on the national performance list in to 400 meters. Travis Whitman of UCCS came in second in the men's 600 meter with a time of 1:26.69

Lauren Graham once again won the women's pole vault at an RMAC competition. Graham followed up her 4.06 meter vault last week by clearing an even 4 meters Friday. She will be going to conference championship as the No. 1 women's pole vaulter in NCAA D-II and ranked in the 2011 top 50 for all women's pole vaulter in the United States of America, professional and collegiate.
