Graham makes it two-out-of-three, multi-eventers shine on Potts' first day

BOULDER - Lauren Graham made it two wins in three events as the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs sophomore won the women's pole vault Friday at the Potts Indoor Invitational at the University of Colorado's Balch Fieldhouse.

Graham has already qualified for nationals and cleared 12 feet, 5.50 inches on Friday. Teagan Hughes also vaulted for the Mountain Lions, finishing eighth.

Colby Elliott led five Mountain Lions in the men's heptathlon, sitting in sixth place finish after four events.

Elliott is currently the top NCAA Division II competitor in the event, sitting behind Colorado's Alex Von Hagen (first) and Adam Salzmann (third), Colorado State's Josh McMillin (second) and two unattached athletes. Other Mountain Lions in the event are Brien Hopkins (eighth, Canyon Parcell (10th), Joel Fraser (12th) and Adam Jones (15th).

Elliott's impressive result was helped greatly by his performance in the 60-meter dash (second) and the high jump (third). Parcell took third in the shot put.

The only other events held on Friday were the women's pentathlon and the men's pole vault.

In the pentathlon, UCCS' Ally Watson took 11th. In the men's pole vault, Chris Myers finished in a three-way tie for sixth.
