Nine Mountain Lions named All-RMAC

By Alex Sommers published May 12, 2010

The 2010 Outdoor Track & Field All-RMAC teams were announced Tuesday. Three Mountain Lions found their name in the list of first-team All-RMAC selections along with three second teamers and three more on the third team.

First-team All-RMAC selections include freshman men's long jumper, Anthony Cardinale, freshman women's 400-meter hurdler, Ashley Benfield, and freshman women's pole vaulter, Lauren Graham.

UCCS had two men make the second team; sophomore high jumper, Steven Gomez and sophomore decathlete, Brian Hopkins. They were joined by their teammate Kelsey Barry, a senior women's 800-meter runner. Mountain Lions who got the nod for third team were: freshman 400 meter runner, Jonathan Christian, sophomore pole vaulter, Brian Hopkins, and senior 800-meter runner, Tracy Falsetto.

Being named to the All-RMAC team is nothing new for the two seniors, Kelsey Barry and Tracy Falsetto. This is Barry's third consecutive season making second team as an 800-meter runner and she also was named second team All-RMAC in the 400-meter run as a freshman. Falsetto was also a third team selection last season in the 800 meters.
