UCCS Men's Distance Medly Team Takes First at Air Force Invitational
USAF ACADEMY, Colo. - The men's distance medley team from the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs took first place at the Air Force Invitational Friday, highlighting the Mountain Lions' performance in the first day of the two-day indoor track & field event at the Cadet Fieldhouse.
The UCCS quartet of Alex Vazquez, Jason Shaver, Jon Christian and Chris Reynolds clocked in at 10 minutes, 39.88 seconds, 10.76 seconds faster that the second of two Air Force teams. UCCS also beat a team from Wyoming in the race.
In other events, three Mountain Lions qualified for the finals of the women's 800-meter run, which will be held Saturday. Tracy Falsetto clocked the 10th-best time overall and fourth among NCAA Division II runners with a time of 2:21.32. Also making it to the finals were Sara Kettelkamp (2:26.00) and Kassie Mazzocco (2:28.00).
Kelsey Barry qualified for the finals in the women's 400 meters with a time of 59.21 seconds. Oliver Williams made the men's final in the 800 by clocking a 2:01.26.
While Dami Oladiran did not qualify for the finals in the men's 200, his 16th-place time (22.70) in the preliminaries was the best achieved by any Division II runner.
