The University of Colorado at Colorado Springs was named a women's 2009 Division II All-Academic Track and Field Team by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches' Association.

The Mountain Lions posted a 3.178 grade point average in 2009. To be nominated, the team must carry a minimum 3.000 cumulative grade-point average. A total of 64 Division II women's track and field programs were recognized as 2009 USTFCCCA All-Academic Track and Field Teams.

In addition to the team honor, two UCCS student-athletes, Kelsey Barry and Kaitlin Frier, were named to the 2009 USTFCCCA Division II Women's All-Academic Track and Field Team.

Northern Kentucky University recorded the highest overall team GPA with a 3.678, followed by Pittsburg State which carried a 3.665 team GPA. Slippery Rock recorded the third-highest cumulative GPA with a 3.550 team average.

The selection of the All-Academic Indoor and Outdoor Scholar Teams of the Year award is based on a combination of academic and athletic achievements, with the top honor going to the team that had the combination of best overall finish at the respective Division II Indoor or Outdoor National Championships and cumulative GPA.

To qualify for the USTFCCCA All-Academic Track and Field Team, the student-athlete must have compiled a cumulative grade point average of 3.25 and have met the NCAA Division II Indoor or Outdoor automatic or provisional qualifying standard in their respective event.
