UCCS runners Pinter, Tiernan named to RMAC all-academic team

COLORADO SPRINGS -- University of Colorado at Colorado Springs runners Dan Pinter and Alex Tiernan were named to the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Indoor Track & Field All-Academic second team, the conference announced Tuesday.

Pinter, a senior from Saline, Mich., not only excelled in the classroom, but also took 11th place in the 800-meter dash and anchored the UCCS 4 X 400 relay team that took sixth place at the RMAC Indoor Championships on March 1. He also competed on the UCCS distance medley relay that took sixth at the RMAC championships.

Tiernan, a junior from Carbondale, Colo., took 22nd in the 3,000-meter run at the RMAC championships.

Pinter is majoring in accounting and Tiernan is a marketing major.

Teammate Joel Keinitz was named to the all-academic honor roll. From the UCCS women's track team, Christy Severy and Kelsey Barry were named to the honor roll.
