Shepard to run at nationals

University of Colorado at Colorado Springs runner Sarah Shepard qualified to compete at the NCAA National Indoor Track and Field Championships.
The national championships will be held on March 9-10 at Boston.
Shepard recorded a time of 17 minutes, 25.42 seconds in the 5,000-meter run at Seattle on Feb. 10, earning a provisional qualifying time. The university learned Friday that the time had held up and Shepard was Boston-bound.
Shepard is the only UCCS athlete to qualify this year. Several others, including Aaron Rubalcaba-Lopez, Jenna Dorsey-Spitz and Storm Allen were on the bubble.
Shepard is scheduled to run on Saturday, March 10, at 5:48 p.m. EST.
