Harmer, Rubalcaba-Lopez earn provisional times

David Harmer and Aaron Rubalcaba-Lopez clocked a provisional qualifying times for nationals Saturday as the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs split its track team to compete at both the Husky Classic in Seattle, Wash., and the CSM Open in Golden.

Harmer was one of a handful of distance runners to head to Seattle in hopes of earning national qualifying times at sea level. The junior from London, England ran the 800 meters in 1 minute, 53.53 seconds. The NCAA provisional qualifying time is 1:54.00.

Also running at Seattle was Rubalcaba-Lopez, who turned in a 14:49.41 in the 5,000-meter run. According to the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference, the provisional qualifying time in the event was14:53.00.

At Golden, Alex Vazquez led the UCCS Men's contingent by grabbing second in the 800 meters with a time of 2:00.73. Tori Pasalaqua finished 21st in the same race and also finished 12th in the long jump.

Also competing in two events was Carl Lum, who took 10th in the 400 meters and 12th in the 200 meters.

Storm Allen took sixth in the high jump, clearing 1.95 meters.
