Allen wins second straight high jump
Storm Allen won his second high jump competition in as many meets to lead the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs men's track team at the Air Force All-Comers meet on Saturday at the U.S. Air Force Academy.
Allen's best jump cleared 6 feet, 4.75 inches, four inches better than Rob Mishev, who was competing unattached. Allen bettered four NCAA Division I jumpers.
Allen also took first place at the ASC Early Bird meet in Alamosa on Dec. 9.
On Saturday, Allen also finished fifth among 12 competitors in the long jump with a leap of 21-2.00 and was third of five in the triple jump at 44-10.25.
Aaron Rubalcaba-Lopez finished fifth in the 3,000-meter run with a time of 9 minutes, 23.20 seconds. David Harmer was sixth in the same event.
Carl Lum led the UCCS sprinters, taking 13th in both the 200 meters and the 400 meters. Tori Pasalaqua was 17th in the 400, while Brendan Kullback was eighth in the mile.
