The Mountain Lions Men's and Women's Track and Field and Cross Country Teams were named to the 2006 USTFCCCA.
The Mountain Lions Men's and Women's Track and Field and Cross Country Teams were named 2006 Division II All-Academic teams by the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) the University learned Wednesday.
The USTFCCCA honors individuals and teams for their academic and athletic accomplishments during the indoor and outdoor track seasons. Twenty-three Division II men's and Forty-nine Division II women's teams had cumulative grade-point averages of 3.0 or higher.
The UCCS men's team had a cumulative grade point average of a 3.160 to qualify. The women's team had a cumulative grade point average of a 3.393 to qualify.
UCCS men's cross country team finished sixth and the women's cross country team finished fifth at the North Central Region Cross Country Championships. The women's cross country team did send Shannon Payne and Sarah Shepard to nationals where they were both named as All-Americans. For track UCCS sent three runners, Ashley Birger, Brad Winn, and Shannon Payne to nationals.
