RMAC Indoor Championships Conclude
The 3,000-meter run featured 30 Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference runners. However, Shannon Payne and Sarah Shepard outpaced and outran the rest of the field en route to fourth and fifth place finishes, respectively.
Payne finished with a time of 10:21.50, just seconds ahead of teammate Shepard, who finished in 10:32.00. Payne's finish garnered five points for the Mountain Lions while Shepard's added another four.
Jenna Dorsey-Spitz, who was only just recently added to the roster, placed 17th with a time of 11:15.78. Kristen Anderson, Leslie Bennett, Whitney Lund and Ashley Brotherton finished 20th, 25th, 26th and 28th respectively.
The team made up of three freshman and a sophomore, Caitlin Cochran, Cheutney Ellerton, Cherdaria Mack, and Jessica Hudson, placed eighth in the 4x400 relay.
In the mile, Ashley Birger was the Mountain Lions' top finisher placing ninth out of 18 with a time of 5:20.82.
Lisa Short and Tina Gray were right behind Birger with 11th and 12th place finishes, respectively. Short barely edged out Gray for the 11th place finish with a time of 5:33.09. Short's time was a mere .17 seconds faster than Gray's 5:33.26.
Jessica Hudson finished 15th in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:27.44. In this event, it was Short who finished just behind a teammate placing 17th in 2:30.54.
