Lund Improving with Sister's Support

By Matt Sandstead published February 4, 2006

Megan Lund finished second in the 5,000-meter run and her sister, Whitney Lund, was fifth in the same event Saturday at the Air Force Invitational.

Whitney Lund is in her second year at UCCS and is making improvements on her times with every run.

"She had a goal and went out and got it," said head coach Graeme Badger. "She has a great sense of pace and hopefully she will be able to improve upon her times more this year."

Whitney's sister, Megan, has all the confidence in her.

"I think she [Whitney] is going to have a great breakthrough year," said Megan Lund. "She's a lot faster than she was last year and we are all really excited to see what she will do."

Shannon Payne and Jessica Hudson were the only other Mountain Lions to score besides the Lund sisters. Payne finished fifth in the mile with a time of 5:21 and Hudson finished seventh in the 800 meter.

UCCS tied for eighth place out of 13 teams.
