Missed it by that Much

David Harmer can only dream he was made in Gepetto's workshop. If he had been, he would be provisional qualified at this point in time. However, Pinocchio was an only child, so Harmer is out of luck.

Harmer missed the provisional qualifying time of 1:55.23 in the 800-meter run by .01 seconds. Harmer's time of 1:55.24 is good enough for second best in school history as well as second in the event. Harmer's performace produced eight points for the Mountain Lions.

Saturday was a much better day for the Mountain Lions overall. Friday, the team had no one finish in the top 10 in any event. Saturday, the Mountain Lions placed three runners in the top 10 in two different events.

Aside from Harmer's second-place performance, was Aaron Rubalcaba-Lopez and Brad Winn in the 3,000-meter run.

Rubalcaba-Lopez finished eighth with a time of 8:53.48. Rubalcaba-Lopez's finish earned the Mountain Lions a point as well.

Winn finished in 10th, less than two seconds behind his teammate with a time of 8:55.06.

Gabe Small and Jay Luna rounded out the top 20 finishers, placing 17th and 20th respectively.

Jason Braun, Ryan Price, Alex Tiernan, Carlos Ruibal, Kevin Moulton and Brain Kearns also competed in the 3,000 meters.

Dan Pinter was the Mountain Lions' top performer in the mile, finishing 17th. Pinter's time was 4:33.82. Kyle Reno shortly followed Pinter across the finish line for a 18th-place finish with a time of 4:38.78.
