First day of RMAC Championships tough for Mountain Lions
The first day of the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Indoor Championships was a rocky day for the Mountain Lions, so to speak.
The top finisher for the Mountain Lions was senior Mark Brehm. Brehm's time of 23.77 in the 200-meter dash was good enough for 11th place.
Brehm finished 16th in the 55 meter dash with a time of 6.96 and 14th in the 400-meter dash with a time of 52.05.
Chad Lenz also competed in the 400 meters with Brehm. Lenz finished 19th with a time of 59.98. In the long jump, Lenz finished 22nd with a distance of 5.56m.
The Mountain Lions had four runners that competed in the 5,000-meter run. Sophomore Gabe Small was the top finisher for UCCS in 16th place, with a time of 15:50.45. Senior Ryan Price finished less than four seconds later (15:53.60) to capture 17th place. Kyle Reno and Brain Zakavec rounded out the race finishing 24th and 25th respectively.
In the distance medley the Mountain Lions placed fifth. The team of Brad Winn, Jay Luna, David Harmer and Jason Braun finished with a time of 10:57.33, less than a minute behind the top team and just a little more than a second faster than the subsequent two teams.
