Distance medley grabs team points
The University of Colorado at Colorado Springs men's distance medley team finished seventh at the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Indoor Track Championships, providing the Mountain Lions with their only two team points of the competition.
Brad Winn, Jay Luna, Dan Strishhock and Jason Braun competed the four-distance relay in 11 minutes, 7.38 seconds. They were 2.59 seconds behing Chadron State for sixth place.
Two other UCCS runners nearly earned team points in the meet, which was held Friday and Saturday at Kearney, Neb. Winn took ninth in the 3,000-meter run, while Aaron Rubalcaba-Lopez took tenth in the 5,000 meters. The top eight finishers in each event earn team points.
Adams State won the RMAC title with 207 points. Western State took second, 66 points behind.
