Lions compete in final tuneup
Mark Brehm and Dan Strishock set new school records as the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs had its final tuneup for the conference championships Friday at the Don Barrett/Air Force Open.
The Mountain Lions will next compete in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Championships on Feb. 26-27 at Kearney, Neb.
Brehm, who is also a member of the Mountain Lions soccer team, set a new school record in the 200-meter dash by covering the distance in 23.64 seconds. Strishock established a new best mark in the 400 meters with a time of 52.10.
"The meet was full of surprises and yearly best times," said CU-Colorado Springs coach Graeme Badger.
CU-Colorado Springs, which was the only NCAA Division II team competing in the Division I meet, had athletes in six events.
Ryan Price's fourth-place showing in the 3,000 meters was the Mountain Lions' best finish. Price bested two Division I runners.
