Brathall blazes in Division I meet
Levi Brathall topped 42 NCAA Division I runners en route to a 17th-place finish in the 5,000-meter run Friday at the Iowa State Invitational in Ames, Iowa.
Brathall's time of 14 minutes, 32.48 seconds not only earned him a solid provisional qualifying time for nationals, it also beat the best time posted among Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference to date. The previous best was a 14:35.25 posted by Western State's Timothy Parr.
Going into the weekend, Parr's time was the fourth best in the nation.
Aaron Rubalcaba-Lopez (15:08.32) and Brad Winn (15:09.95) also competed for the Mountain Lions.
All three Mountain Lions posted career-best times.
