COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - The ninth edition of the Steel and Silver Series between the athletic departments at the University of Colorado Colorado Springs and Colorado State-Pueblo will now feature women's golf after the addition of the program by UCCS for the 2013-14 season. The annual competition cup will now include 11 common sports between the two institutions.

The competition features men's and women's soccer, volleyball, women's cross country, women's indoor and outdoor track and field, men's and women's basketball, softball, and men's and women's golf. The series will add men's cross country, indoor and outdoor track and field in the 2014-15 season after CSU-Pueblo announced the return of the programs.

UCCS has won the Steel and Silver Series Trophy all eight years since the competition was established in the 2005-06 season, and won the 2012-13 trophy 37-8. Four points are awarded for each sport based on regular season contests for soccer, basketball, volleyball and softball, and by the conference championship finish for golf, cross country and track and field. Five points are awarded to the institution with the highest grade point average for student-athletes in the common sports.
