Martell Earns All-RMAC Honors in 5K

SPEARFISH, S.D. - Angie Martell became the first Mountain Lion this weekend to earn All-RMAC honors after the opening day of the 2013 RMAC Indoor Track & Field Championships today at the Young Center at Black Hills State. She led the University of Colorado Colorado Springs to a seventh-place team finish after the first day of events.

Martell finished fourth in the 5,000-meter run in 18 minutes and 8.58 seconds to earn Second Team All-RMAC honors and five team points. The Mountain Lions earned seven points in the event after Alyssa Andrews finished seventh for two more points in 18:40.01.

Veronica Sandoval, Briana Alley, Amber McAfee and Alyssa Wendt earned four points for UCCS in a fifth-place finish in the distance medley relay. The team finished in 12:38.12.

The Mountain Lions will continue action on Saturday morning in the final day of the conference championships. Tomorrow will also be the final day of the season to record qualifying marks for the national championships in two weeks in Birmingham, Ala.
