No. 15 Mountain Lions Post Best Finish in Six Years at 2012 RMAC Championships
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Madison Neher led four Mountain Lions who earned All-RMAC honors as the No. 15 University of Colorado Colorado Springs women's cross country team finished third at the 2012 RMAC Cross Country Championships this morning at Monument Valley Park. It's the best conference finish since 2006.
Neher was joined by Megan Burrell, Angie Martell and Veronica Sandoval as all-conference runners. The four All-RMAC runners in a single championship is a first in UCCS program history, and surpassed the three all-conference runners in 2000.
Neher finished in 23 minutes, 10 seconds on the six-kilometer course and No. 10 overall for Second Team All-RMAC accolades. It was the best individual finish for the Mountain Lions in two seasons.
Burell, Martell and Sandoval took three of the four spots from No. 16 through No. 19 and finished within a span of 25 seconds. Sam Bauer finished in 24:29.7 as the final scoring runner for UCCS in No. 31 overall.
The 94-point team score was the best for the Mountain Lions since 2006 and marked the seventh time at the RMAC championships with a score below 100 points.
Up Next: UCCS will enjoy next weekend off to prepare for the 2012 NCAA Division II South Central Region Championships in Denver on Nov. 3. The top five teams from the regional meet will advance to the national championships on Nov. 17 at Joplin, Mo.
