UCCS Spirit Squads to Hold Open Tryouts
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - University of Colorado Colorado Springs Spirit Director Amy Sutz will hold tryouts for 2013-14 Mountain Lion cheerleading squad May 20-23 at the Student Recreation Center on campus. The tryouts will be the first step in launching a more dedicated spirit squad to support the Mountain Lion athletic teams and to represent the University at community events.
The cheerleading squad is recruiting both male and female participants and is holding tryouts for individuals interested in serving as Clyde the mascot. Tryouts will begin at 3 p.m. each day with the final roster to be released on May 24.
Those interested in trying out are required to complete the application form and questionnaire and provide a copy of a current physical (conducted within the last six months) and of their health insurance information. A Final Judgment Policy Form also needs to be completed before being able to try out.
Those interested in being a cheerleader or mascot for 2013-14 but unable to make the tryout dates may submit a video to Sutz by May 17, but it is highly encouraged to try out in person.
he 2013-14 cheerleading season will be the first when the cheerleaders will be operated with direct involvement with the Mountain Lion athletic department. Before the upcoming season, the cheerleaders operated a student club.
