Phone(719) 255-3006

When Don Pettrow joined the University of Colorado Colorado Springs coaching staff prior to the 2004 season, it continued a baseball/softball odyssey that has lasted over 30 years.

Pettrow, who works primarily with the Mountain Lions' pitchers, is also in his 17th season as a coach of the Doherty High School softball team, 12 as the head coach. He has also been a club coach in Colorado Springs for seven years and coached the Spartans. No stranger to coaching several teams simultaneously, Pettrow also served as an assistant for Colorado College from 1999-2001.

Pettrow was so highly regarded as a pitcher at Marina High School in Huntington Beach, Calif., that he was given a professional contract to play in the Anaheim (then California) Angels system. He also played in the Los Angeles Dodgers system during a minor league career that took him to Visalia, Palm Springs and Riverside, all in the California League.

At the conclusion of his playing career, Pettrow began coaching baseball and softball and has done so continuously for the past 30 years. He moved to Colorado 27 years ago while working for Litton Data Systems, but left that job to open his own business, Big League Screen Printing and Embroidery, 20 years ago.

Pettrow and his wife, Shirley, have been married for 25 years. He has two stepchildren, Steven and Brooke.
