Five Earn Scholar-Athlete Awards, UCCS Earns Team All-Academic Honor

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The University of Colorado Colorado Springs softball team placed five Mountain Lions on the Scholar-Athlete squad and UCCS earned All-Academic Team recognition from the National Fastpitch Coaches Association. UCCS was one of two RMAC schools to earn All-Academic Team honors and to place student-athletes on the Scholar-Athlete squads.

Emily Jennings, Erin Milburn, Jen Schellenberg, Jessica Belsterling and Becca Smith each earned Scholar-Athlete honors with a grade point average greater than 3.5. Belsterling and Smith were both named to the RMAC All-Academic Teams last season, while Jennings, Milburn and Schellenberg were all on the RMAC Honor Roll.

Milburn was a member of the UCCS President's List last spring with a perfect 4.0 semester GPA. Schellenberg and Smith were Dean's List students with a semester GPA between 3.75 and 3.99.

The Mountain Lions earned the team All-Academic honor with a team GPA of 3.215 and ranked among the top quarter of Division II teams in GPA. On the field, UCCS ranked seventh in Division II for batting average and in the top 20 for scoring and slugging percentage.
