UCCS Hosts Final Regular Season Games This Weekend
The University of Colorado Colorado Springs softball team (23-15-1 / 18-11 RMAC) hosts its final regular season games this weekend against CSU-Pueblo (26-14 / 15-9 RMAC) and No. 12 ranked Colorado Mines (33-4-1 / 24-2 RMAC).
UCCS is currently sixth in the RMAC standings while CSU-Pueblo is third and Colorado Mines is first. Colorado Mines and UCCS are also both in the top 10 in the NCAA Softball South Central Rankings. The Orediggers are fifth and the Mountain Lions are 10th.
UCCS is first in the RMAC for batting average (.360), slugging percent (.533), runs (275), fielding percent (.965), on base percent (.429) and RBIs (248). The Mountain Lions are also rank in the top 15 in the nation for some of those categories. They are third for batting average, ninth in slugging percent, and 14th in scoring.
CSU-Pueblo is first in conference games for runs (219), hits (323), RBIs (208), and total bases (446). The Thunderwolves are led on offense by Justine Bosio, who is first in the conference for RBIs (56) and tied for first for home runs (13).
Colorado Mines is led by their pitching ace Kelly Unkrich, who is first in the conference in wins (20), strikeouts (145), and ERA (.82). The Orediggers are first in the RMAC in batting average against (.231) and ERA (2.31).
UCCS is led on offense by Jessica Belsterling, who is tied for third in the RMAC in home runs (12) and fourth in RBIs (40). Becca Smith leads the way for the Mountain Lion's pitching. She is second in the RMAC for strikeouts (117), and fourth in wins (14).
Fans that cannot make it to Mountain Lion field can listen to play-by-play on UCCS radio. The first game of the series will be on Saturday against CSU-Pueblo starting at 10:00 a.m.
