Weekend Schedule with Metro State Altered
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - A 90 percent chance of snow has altered the four-game softball series between the University of Colorado Colorado Springs and Metro State this weekend. The teams will now begin a tripleheader on Friday at 11 a.m., and will play the final game of the series on Saturday at 11 a.m.
It will be the second time this season when weather has changed a home softball series. The Mountain Lions played a tripleheader against Fort Lewis to open the home season on Feb. 23 before the last game of the series was canceled due to temperatures. UCCS won all three games of the series and run-ruled the Skyhawks in two of the games.
UCCS and Metro State met in the RMAC preseason weekend on Feb. 2, when UCCS won a 6-5 game. Payton Kornfeind went two-of-three with two doubles and two runs, and Becca Smith recorded 12 strikeouts in the game.
